Template for displaying POTD on subpages of portals. If you are creating a new portal, consider using Template:Portal pictures instead.
This template greatly simplifies the process compared to the common pattern of using a layout template for selected/featured pictures on a portal. Usual pattern requires a lot of fields to be filled in, including a caption. A picture of the day already has all needed information. The only input needed is the date.

Usage
{{Portal POTD|YYYY-MM-DD}}
To override the footer, use parameter |more=:
{{Portal POTD|YYYY-MM-DD|more=footer}}
To find appropriate pictures, use search box below, from {{POTD subpage search box}}:
Parameters
|1=- Date of the picture of the day in YYYY-MM-DD format. This should be the subpage name of Template:POTD.
|more=- Wikitext for the footer. For example,
|more=[[Portal:Sports/Selected picture|More selected pictures...]]. Optional. Defaults to[[Portal:{{ROOTPAGENAME}}/Selected picture|More selected pictures]]. |more=no- Special value of parameter
|more=to not show the footer.
